Armorial shield that had originally been mounted at the entrance to the Imperial German Consolate located at 55 Queens Road Melbourne.
The shield was the Coat of Arms of the Second German Reich 1871 - 1918.
Armorial shield is an interesting study in heraldry , and of the rise in fortune of one of the oldest influential families of Europe - the Hohenzollerns.
