Abstract
The USMC Brevet Medal was specifically authorised for issue to any officer holding a brevet commission for 'distinguished conduct and public service in the face of the enemy ' during the Mexican War, the Civil War, the Spanish-American War, the Philippine Insurrection, or the Boxer Rebellion.
