A prison of our own : the AIF detention barracks 1917 - 1919 / Wilson, Graham.
Abstract
The HM Prison Lewes was handed over to the AIF on the 1st November 1917 to become the first official detention barracks. This establishment operated from 1917 til 1919. In this article the author describes the background to the formation of this detention barracks as well as giving a description on the short history of the Prison Lewes.
