Abstract
Most Australians presume that the first military conflict in Australian history, one involving regular soldiers on both sides, occurred sometime after 1788. But that is not so. In fact the first militry conflict on Australian soil actually occurred in 1629. It was rather unusual circumstances and was itself a most curious little " war ".
