Note | A single sheet from the outline map series covering the area around the Egyptian city of Qantara, on the eastern side of the Suez Canal, 50 km south of Port Said. Shows a section of the Canal with kilometre marks, the road to El Arish, disused telegraph line, desert posts, mosque, windmill, extensive areas subject to inundation as of January 1916, sand and scrub areas, some vegetation and terrain features. Relief shown by contours. "Information within 3000 yards east of Canal at El Qantara is laid down approx. from a rough survey made by the R.A.E. (A.I.F.) in Oct 1915". "This map has to be treated as secret". Includes index to adjoining sheets, and notes on terrain conditions. |
