This collection of documents marks the third stage of the project - the homeward journey of personal documents and items collected on the battlefield by Australian and New Zealand soldiers. Many of the Australian and New Zealand veterans who held these items for the intervening decades hoped that one day they could return them to Vietnam. Together with the donors of these items, the Operation Wandering Souls project team hopes that the originals of the letters, documents, photographs and works of art in t his collection can eventually be returned to the family members of those who died, or to a suitable place within Vietnam.
