'Deservedly respected': a first look at the 11th Regiment in Australia / Matthew Higgins.
Abstract
The service of individual British regiments in colonial Australia has not been studied in any detail. Matthew Higgin's article on the 11th (North Devon) Regiment, which served in Australia from 1845 - 1857, provides an illuminating introductory examination of one regiment's colonial experiences and of the soldiers' role in colonial society.
