Informal portrait of Leading Aircraftman (LAC) K. M. Harris of Dulwich Hill, NSW, fitter, with No. 3 (Mustang) Squadron RAAF, who has been Mentioned in Despatches recently for his action on 29 April 1944. He, with Corporal S. R. Moore of Swan Hill, Vic, were working on one of three aircraft in the same dispersal bay when the aircraft was strafed and set on fire. A 500 pound bomb was beneath the fuselage of the aircraft, and regardless of fire Cpl Moore and LAC Harris detached the bomb and rolled it away. They then started up the other two aircraft and taxied them to safety.
