Description
Naples, Italy. 4 April 1943. Bombs falling on the harbour during a raid by about one hundred Boeing B-17 Flying Fortress bomber aircraft of the US Army Air Force. Below them other bombs are seen falling into the water while smoke from fires and explosions drifts over the harbour. In this attack ten ships, two of them liners, were seen to be hit. A fire was started in one of them. A repair ship, three submarines and a cluster of smaller vessels were also hit. Seven merchant vessels, a floating dock, a liner and two escort vessels were damaged.
