Description
During the winter months in Korea, the soil is frozen too solid to dig, so it is during these months whilst waiting for the thaw, that members of the 1st Battalion, The Royal Australian Regiment (1RAR), carry out line maintenance and general cleaning up of the Kansas Line positions already established. Sitting in the trench outside his Bren gun pit, having a brew and a smoke after one of these clean up sessions, is Private (Pte) 'Buck' Bradley of Taree, NSW. Prior to enlistment, Pte Bradley was a mill hand at Bullock's Timber Mill, Taree. (Pte Bradley is probably 24887 Bernard Rex Bradley).
