Saunders, Dr Malcolm James
Description
Dr Malcolm James Saunders wrote his thesis 'The Vietnam Moratorium Movement in Australia 1969-73" while studying for a Doctor of Philosophy at Flinders University in 1977. He drew upon Vietnam Moratorium Campaign (VMC) documents, left and right wing newspapers and journals and recollections of people involved in the three moratoriums. The thesis focuses on the formation of the VMC, its support within the universities and the three campaigns in 1970 and 1971. Saunders also discusses the political climate in Australia, including the attitudes of prime ministers John Gorton and Gough Whitlam.
