Private Ernest Wilkinson
Description
Private Ernest Wilkinson (Depot, 24th Battalion) was born at Prahran, Victoria, around February of 1898. He was working as a butcher when he enlisted in April 1915. Ernie died of pneumonia at the Base Hospital in Melbourne on 5 July 1915 and was buried in Brighton General Cemetery, Brighton, Victoria, Australia. His father later wrote that Ernie was 17 years 5 months of age at the time of his death.
