Description
Ordinary Seaman Leslie Raymond Arthur Moore (4875) was born in Brighton, Victoria, on 23 August 1900. He enlisted in the RAN in May 1915. In April 1918 his ship, HMAS Torrens, was sent to rescue the crew of a damaged Italian destroyer, Benedetto Cairoli, in the Adriatic Sea. Leslie was swept overboard in heavy seas. He was 17 years and 7 months old. He is commemorated on the Plymouth Naval Memorial, UK.
