Private Thomas Gordon Summers
Description
Thomas Gordon Summers was 21 years old when he joined the AIF on 4 February 1916. He was living in Burnie, Tasmania, and listed his occupation as letter carrier. His next of kin was his father John Summers also of Burnie. Private Summers embarked from Melbourne on 29 March 1916 with reinforcements to the 12th Battalion. Following training in England he joined the 52nd Battalion in France on 27 July 1916. Private Summers went missing in action 4 September 1916. Following a court of inquiry he was declared killed in action on this date.
