Lance Corporal Claude Harold Phillips
Description
Claude Harold Phillips was born at Bermagui on the New South Wales south coast in 1897. He was 18 years old and working as a carpenter when he enlisted in the Australian Imperial Force (AIF) on 27 May 1916, and embarked from Sydney that November with the 22nd reinforcements to the 13th Battalion. He was also a member of the 13th Battalion Band. Returning to England after the war, Phillips was transferred to the AIF Depots in 1919 and returned to Australia the following year. Sometime after the war he moved to West Wyalong, New South Wales, where he married Amelia MacFadyen in 1930. He passed away on 4 September 1981.
