Description

George Henry Crittenden was born in the Sydney suburb of Waterloo in 1882 to Samuel and Harriet Crittenden. He was 27 and working as a cook when he enlisted with the Australian Imperial Force on 1 June 1916. Embarking from Sydney with reinforcements to the 13th Battalion in November 1916, he served with this unit on the Western Front in Belgium and France and was also a member of the 13th Battalion Band. Crittenden returned to Australia in June 1919.
