Private Maurice Challis Redwood
Description
Private Maurice Challis Redwood (1999, 18th Battalion) was a clerk from Katoomba, NSW. Although he was under 18, he enlisted on 19 June 1915 with his mother’s consent, giving his age as 18 years 4 months. Maurice was killed in action at Pozieres on 5 August 1916 and is commemorated at the Villers-Bretonneux Memorial, France. His mother wrote that he was 16 years 10 months.
