Description
Private William Edward Riley (316, 6th Battalion) was born in Whittlesea, Victoria, on 21 May 1898. He enlisted in August 1914 under the alias of Edwin Hayes. William was killed in action on 8 May 1915 during the second battle of Krithia on the Gallipoli Peninsula, two weeks before his 17th birthday. William is commemorated on the Helles Memorial, Turkey.
