Private David Charles Trainer
Description
Private David Charles Trainer (3066, 60th Battalion) was a grocer from Footscray, Victoria. He enlisted under the name of David Charles Cook. David was killed in action at the battle of Fromelles 2 days before his 17th birthday. His father later wrote that he tried to stop David from enlisting, but David enlisted anyway without his consent. He also wrote that David had said he was going even if he had to walk to Sydney. David is commemorated at the VC Corner Australian Cemetery and Memorial, Fromelles, France.
