Private Wesley George Wade
Description
Private Wesley George Wade (729, 17th Battalion) was a carpenter from Artarmon, NSW, who enlisted in March 1915. He served at Gallipoli before his battalion moved to the Western Front. Thirteen days after reaching the trenches, Wesley received gunshot wounds to his left eye and face. He re-joined his battalion on 1 August 1916 after recovering from his wounds, only to be wounded again 2 days later during the battle of Pozieres. Wesley died the same day and was buried in the Contalmaison Chateau Cemetery, France. He was 17 years of age.
