Private John Thomas Lyons
Description
Private John Thomas Lyons (150, 3rd Battalion) was born at Murchison, Victoria, on 27 Feb 1898. Family folklore says that he and a friend rode their bicycles all the way to Sydney to enlist in September 1914. John gave his age as 19 years 2 months. He was killed in action at Gallipoli on 19 May 1915 at age 17 years 2 months and is buried in the 4th Battalion Parade Ground Cemetery, Gallipoli, Turkey.
