Private Archibald Borland Harman Dunn (3747, 3rd Battalion) was born in Camperdown, NSW. He was working as a carpenter in Leichardt when he enlisted in August 1915. Archibald was killed in the trenches on 25 July 1916 during the battle of Pozieres when the battalion came under very heavy bombardment. He is commemorated on the Villers-Bretonneux Memorial, France. Archibald’s father, Private Arthur William Dunn (2082, 3rd Battalion) served at Gallipoli and later wrote that Archibald was 17 years and 3 months of age at the time of his death. Archibald’s brother, Private James Henry Dunn (2472, 20th Battalion), was killed in action at Bois Grenier, France, two months earlier.
