Private John Roy Joseph Corfian
Description
Private John Roy Joseph Corfian (3377, 33rd Battalion) was working as a storeman in Coogee, NSW, when he enlisted in June 1917 under the alias of Frank Smith. John received gunshot wounds to his head during an Allied counterattack at Hangard Wood on 30 March 1918 against the German spring offensive, and died the following day. He is buried in the Adelaide Cemetery, Villers-Bretonneux, France. John’s mother wrote that he was 17 years 4 months of age at the time of his death.
