Private John Christian Herweg
Description
Private John Christian Herweg (1032, 23rd Battalion) was a plumber's assistant from Moonee Ponds, Victoria. John died in Heliopolis, Egypt, of acute dilation of the heart and diptheria on 4 September 1915 aged 17 years 4 months. He is buried in the Cairo War Memorial Cemetery. John had two brothers who also served in the AIF: Lance Corporal Herman Robert Herweg, and Bombardier Thomas George Herweg who died of wounds in France in October 1918.
