Private Lyell Pocock (4577, 6th Battalion) was born in East Shelbourne, Victoria, and was working as a farm labourer when he enlisted in September 1915. Lyell died on 15 August 1916 of wounds received earlier that day during action at Pozieres. He is buried in the Becourt Military Cemetery, Albert, France.
