Private Frank Samuel Augustus Taylor
Description
Private Frank Samuel Augustus Taylor (2305, 6th Battalion) was born in Collarenebri, NSW, and grew up in Bendigo, Victoria. After finishing school, Frank worked for Bendigo Pottery and later a grocery store. Frank played Australian rules football and was a member of the Albion Imperial Club when he enlisted in September 1914. Frank was shot at Anzac Cove on 3 May 1915 and is buried in the Beach Cemetery, Gallipoli, Turkey. His father wrote that he was 17 and a half years of age. Frank's brother, John Patrick Taylor, also enlisted in the Australian Imperial Force but was discharged for family reasons after news of his brother's death seriously damaged their mother's health.
