Private Cyril Samuel Willmott
Description
Private Cyril Samuel Willmott (2439A, 60th Battalion) was a baker’s apprentice from St Arnaud, Victoria. He enlisted in April 1915. Cyril died of pneumonia on 5 February 1917 and is buried in the Dernancourt Communal Cemetery Extension, France. His mother later wrote that he was 17 years 7 months of age. Cyril’s cousin, Private Clifford Polkinghorne of the 8th Battalion, was killed at Gallipoli and another cousin, Lance Corporal Samuel Polkinghorne of the 32nd Battalion, also died of pneumonia.
