Description

Everet Gordon Kilmister was born at Tenterfield, New South Wales, on 15 June 1891, to parents Thomas and Elizabeth née Roper. He was the tenth child in a family of eleven children. He enlisted in the Australian Imperial Force on 10 May 1916. Prior to this, he was working as a grocer in Nimbin, New South Wales. He embarked at Brisbane with the 21st reinforcements of the 15th Battalion on 21 October 1916 aboard HMAT Boonah and continued to serve with this unit in France. He also played the E flat tuba in the 15th Battalion Band.

Kilmister returned to Australia aboard HMAT Beltana on 2 June 1919. He married Nola Allport at Murrurundi, New South Wales, in 1925. The couple had a son, Norman E. Kilmister, who died at Murrurundi in 1935. Everet Kilmister died at Tamworth on 21 April 1965.
