Description

Frederick Ronald (Ron) Foster enlisted in July 1941 and served as a Lieutenant with the 8th Division Signals. On 16 February 1942 Ron Foster, along with all members of his unit, became prisoners of war following the fall of Singapore. He was initially interned at Changi for five months, and then moved to Borneo on 17 July 1942 where he was held at Sandakan, and later Kuching. He remained a POW until Japan capitulated on 15 August 1945. He was discharged on the 12th of December 1945.
