Private Ebenezer David Clement
Description
Private Ebenezer David Clement (1686, 20th Battalion) was born in Sydney, NSW on 28 June 1898. He was working in a glass bottle factory when he enlisted in May 1915. Ebenezer was serving on the Gallipoli Peninsula when he was evacuated to the hospital ship H S Devanha where he died on 9 November 1915 of toxaemia, aged 17 years and 4 months. He was buried at sea and is commemorated on the Lone Pine Memorial, Gallippoli Peninsual, Turkey. David's younger brother, Gunner Arthur William Clement (1430, 10th Field Artillery Brigade) also enlisted under age and served with his unit for 16 months before being sent home and discharged under age.
