Sergeant George Victor McLean
Description
11979 Gunner (Gnr) George Victor McLean, 13th Field Artillery Brigade. A driver prior to enlistment, Gnr McLean embarked for overseas service on 28 January 1916. He was promoted to Bombardier (Bdr) on 1 September 1916, but was medically discharged on 18 May 1918 due to deafness caused by gunfire. Bdr McLean re-enlisted in the Second World War as a Royal Australian Artillery gunnery instructor. He died of illness on 13 June 1941. McLean was the half-brother to John (Ian) and Archibald Allen.
