Private Frederick Clive Collins
Description
Private Frederick Clive Collins (4171, 11th Battalion) was born in Godalming, England and moved to Australia at the age of 14. He was 15 years 4 months when he enlisted. Fred was killed in action near Pozieres on 25 July 1916 at the age of 16 years 2 months. He is commemorated on the Villers-Bretonneux Memorial, France. Fred's father Private Lewis Frank Collins served in the 48th Battalion and died in January 1918 as a result of wounds received at Mouquet Farm near Pozieres in August 1916. Fred’s brother Driver Frank Collins served in the 16th Battalion and was also wounded near Pozieres in August 1916.
