Private Herbert Mackay Harrison
Description
Private Herbert Mackay Harrison (4433, 26th Battalion) was born in Homebush, Queensland, on 28 December 1898. He was working as a painter when he enlisted in January 1916. Herbert was killed in action on 5 August 1916 during the battle of Pozieres, just three days after joining the unit. Herbert is commemorated on the Villers-Bretonneux Memorial, France. Herbert’s mother wrote that he was 17 years, 8 months and 8 days of age at the time of his death.
