Private Clarence George Mathieson
Description
Private Clarence George Mathieson (3084A, 60th Battalion) was a malster from Richmond, Victoria. He was reported missing in action at Fleurbaix, France in the battle of Fromelles on 19 July 1916. A court of enquiry in August 1917 determined that he had been killed in action. He was 16 years. Clarence is commemorated in the VC Corner Australian Cemetery and Memorial, Fromelles, France. Clarence’s brother, Frederick was also serving in the 60th Battalion and was wounded in action on the same day.
