Private Albert Victor Castle
Description
Private Albert Victor Castle (2128, 28th Battalion) was born in Salisbury, England. He had been a bugler in the Boys Brigade in Cardiff, Wales, before migrating to Australia when he was 14 years old. “Bert” was working as a shop assistant in Boulder, WA, when he enlisted in July 1915. He was killed in action on 29 July 1916 during the battle of Pozieres aged 17 years 6 months. Bert is commemorated on the Villers-Bretonneux Memorial, Villers-Bretonneux, France.
