Private Edward Henry Page
Private Edward Henry Page (7757, 2nd Australian Infantry Battalion) was born at Moonta Mines, South Australia, on 18 December 1900. Edward enlisted in August 1914, but was discharged medically unfit in November. In July 1917, he was at Charters Towers, Queensland, and enlisted again but was discharged the following month being under age. Edward then travelled to Sydney and enlisted a third time in October 1917, this time being accepted. After embarking from Australia on HMT Ulysses in December 1917, he joined the 2nd Australian Infantry Battalion in the field in May 1918. After taking part in the great Allied offensive of 1918, Edward was killed in action near Tincourt on 11 September 1918 at the age of 17 years 8 months. He is commemorated on the Villers-Bretonneux Memorial, Villers-Bretonneux, France.
