Squadron Leader Samuel George Proudfoot enlisted to the Royal Australian Air Force on 11 November 1940. He underwent training in New South Wales and Queensland, and qualified as a pilot in June 1941. Proudfoot did further training in Egypt, the Middle East, and Kenya before being posted to 11 Squadron in Ceylon in January 1942. Alongside the rest of 11 Squadron, he was transferred to India in early 1943, and flew missions over Burma. Squadron Leader Proudfoot was killed in an aircraft accident on 13 September 1943. He is buried at Madras War Cemetery, Chennai, India.
