Flight Sergeant Ian George Brodie
Description
Flight Sergeant Ian George Brodie enlisted in the Royal Australian Air Force on 28 March 1941. He trained in Australia and the United Kingdom as an air gunner, and went on to serve with 460 Squadron, based at Binbrook, United Kingdom. With this squadron, Flight Sergeant Brodie participated in mine-laying and bombing operations in enemy-occupied Europe. On 27 January 1943, Flight Sergeant Brodie and his crew were declared missing after failing to return from a bombing operation over Germany. They were later found to have died in a flying battle. Flight Sergeant Brodie is buried at Rheinberg War Cemetery, Germany.
