Sapper Arthur Stanley Tolliday
Description
Sapper Arthur Stanley 'Snowy' Tolliday enlisted to the Second Australian Imperial Force on 19 June 1940. He served with 2/10 Field Company Engineers in Malaya, but was captured as a prisoner of war of the Japanese in early 1942. Initially interned at Changi Prisoner of War Camp in Singapore, Sapper Tolliday was transferred to the Sandakan Prisoner of War Camp, Borneo, in July 1942. On 18 February 1945, Sapper Tolliday died of illness in Borneo. He is commemorated at Labuan Memorial, Malaysia.
