Private William Ernest Steadman
Description
Private William Ernest Steadman (901, 56th Battalion) was born in Singleton, NSW in 1900. He was working as a labourer when he enlisted in November 1915. William was killed in action on 15 May 1917 during the second battle of Bullecourt. He has no known grave and is commemorated on the Villers-Bretonneux Memorial, Villers-Bretonneux, France. His mother later wrote that he was 17 years of age at the time of his death.
