Description

Private Ralph Bevin Tudor enlisted to the Second Australian Imperial Force on 10 June 1940, after previously serving with the militia. After a period of training, he was posted to 2/22 Australian Infantry Battalion and served at Rabaul, New Britain, New Guinea, as part of Lark Force. In early 1942, he was taken as a prisoner of war when the Japanese captured the island. Private Bevin is presumed to have died as a prisoner at Rabaul on 8 March 1942. He is commemorated at commemorated at Rabaul Memorial, Rabaul, East New Britain, Papua New Guinea.
