Trooper James Joseph (Jim) Wilson
Description
Corporal Reginald James Joseph Wilson (729, 8th Light Horse Regiment) was born in Fitzroy, Victoria, on 1 March 1898. He was working in a warehouse when he enlisted on 2 October 1914 with his father’s permission, claiming to be 19 years of age. James was killed in action at Walker’s Ridge, Gallipoli, on 7 August 1915. He is commemorated on the Lone Pine Memorial, Gallipoli Peninsula, Turkey. James was 17 years 5 months at the time of his death. James’ brother, Private Leslie William Wilson, also enlisted in 1914 and served with the 6th Battalion.
