Private Leslie George Conway
Description
Private Leslie George Conway (3365,. 60th Battalion) was born at Windsor, Melbourne, in Augusut 1900. He was working as a clerk when he enlisted on 8 May 1916, but was discharged on 17 June 1916 for being a minor. He re-enlisted on 25 January 1917 and joined his battalion at the Western Front on 14 January 1918. After months of fighting, he was killed in action on 13 July 1918 by a shell-burst, aged 17 years 11 months. Les is buried in the Mericourt-L'Abbe Communal Cemetery Extension, Mericourt-L'Abbe, France.
