Private Roy Clifford Stone
Description
Private Roy Clifford Stone (7574, 6th Battalion) was born in 1900 at Port Melbourne, Victoria and was working as a labourer before enlisting on 25 July 1917. He joined the 6th Battalion on 10 March 1918, but the following month on 11 April 1918, whilst the battalion was unloading from a train at a junction, a German plane flew over and dropped a bomb which hit Roy. He received multiple shrapnel wounds and died of his wounds the following day, aged 17 years 8 months. Roy is buried in the Namps-au-Val British Cemetery, Amiens, France.
