Driver Ernest Richard Sawyer
Description
Driver Ernest Richard Sawyer enlisted in the Australian Imperial Force in Oatlands, South Australia on 12 January 1915. He was assigned to the 27 Battalion, and on 10 January 1916 embarked for service in the Middle East. Driver Sawyer served in Alexandria, Ismailia and Moascar until 21 March 1916. He was posted to Belgium on 9 September 1916, where he continued to serve in England and France. Driver Ernest Richard Sawyer was killed in action in France on 10 June 1918. He is buried at Dive Copse British Cemetery in Sailly-le-Sec, France.
