Private Donald Thomas Richards
Description
Private Donald Thomas Richards (1339, 38th Battalion) was born around July of 1899. He was working as a labourer when he enlisted in March 1916. "Don" was shot by an enemy sniper while in the front line trenches near Armentieres on 1 January 1917 and died of his wounds. He is buried in the Cite Bonjean Military Cemetery, Armentieres, France. His father later wrote that he was 17 and a half years of age at the time of his death.
