Private Jack Green
Description
Private Jack Green (6023, 13th Battalion) was born in Sydney, NSW, about August 1899. He was working as a cinematograph operator when he enlisted in December 1915. Jack was killed in action on 7 February 1917 in the trenches near Gueudecourt. Although buried at the time, his grave could not be found later and he is commemorated on the Villers-Bretonneux Memorial, Villers-Bretonneux, France. His mother later wrote that he was aged 17 years 6 months at the time of his death. Jack's father, Private Cecil Claude Green (3312) served with the 56th Battalion.
