Private Frederick William Burgess
Description
Private Frederick William Burgess (5814, 28th Battalion) was born in Albany, WA on 21 September 1899. He was working as an engine cleaner when he enlisted in July 1916. Frederick was killed in action during an attack on the village of Lagnicourt on 26 March 1917, aged 17 years 6 months. He has no known grave and is commemorated on the Villers-Bretonneux Memorial, Villers-Bretonneux, France. Frederick's uncle, Private Alan Listor Burgess (1599) served with the 16th Battalion.
