Private Douglas Wood
Description
Private Douglas Wood (3969, 59th Battalion) was born at Albert Park, Victoria, about January 1900. He was working as a baker when he enlisted in July 1915. Douglas was killed in action during the battle of Fromelles on 19 July 1916. He has no known grave and is commemorated at the VC Corner Australian Cemetery and Memorial, Fromelles, France. A family notice in The Argus in July 1917 gave his age as 16 and a half years.
