Private Bertram Lockley Tandy
Description
Private Bertram Lockley Tandy (3002, 20th Battalion) was born in Orange, NSW on 29 November 1899. In October 1915 he enlisted in the RAN, serving as Boy 2nd Class on HMAS Tingira. He left Tingira in January 1916 and enlisted in the AIF in April 1916 under the alias of Edward Ernest Bingham. Bertram was killed in action near Noreuil on 19 April 1917, aged 17 years 5 months. He is buried in Noreuil Australian Cemetery, Picardie, France. Bertram's brother, Private Ernest Edward Tandy (6185, 21st Battalion) was also killed in action during the battle of Mont St Quentin.
